In February 1974 – Excellent Companion Peter Davey completed his journey in pure and ancient Freemasonry when he became a member of the Royal Arch ‘Friendship Chapter’ No.202 meeting in Plymouth.
In the 50 years since joining, Peter has enjoyed a full and dedicated career as both a man and a Freemason, and Companions from all over the Province of Devonshire gathered at the Queen Victoria Masonic Hall in St Budeaux to celebrate this important milestone.
The Most Excellent Grand Superintendent Christopher Roach sat with Peter and led an incredibly interesting account of Peter’s career both in and out of Freemasonry. A beautiful framed Certificate was presented to a Peter, commemorating his 50 years of service to the Royal Arch, and the Companions showed their appreciation with full acclamation.
Following the presentation, Companions were treated to a deeply thought provoking Lecture entitled ‘Wisdom, the Application of Knowledge’ by Excellent Companion Alan Salsbury of The Provincial Grand Stewards Chapter No.3924. The Provincial Grand Stewards Chapter was formed in order to provide support for Chapters throughout the Province by assisting with ritual, and providing learning materials to support the enjoyment of our ceremonies. Alan can be contacted by emailing provincialstewards@gmail.com and the Chapter are always on hand to help – so please do get in touch.
The Friendship Chapter No.202 is the oldest Chapter in the Province, and the 10th oldest Chapter in England with a Warrant that dates back to 1788. As one would expect from a Chapter of this age and history, the workings are quite unique, and very interesting and a visit to their next Convocation is always to be highly recommended. The Chapter are actively seeking to expand the membership of their wonderful Chapter, and would welcome applications from interested Master Masons or joining members.
