On the evening of 5 Mar 2026, Dundas Chapter No. 1255 celebrated their sesquicentenary meeting in style.
In the esteemed company of EComp Paul Hughes Deputy Grand Superintendent, EComp Andy Vodden MBE Second Provincial Grand Principal and EComp Gavin Caldwell Third Provincial Grand Principal (not to mention our very own EComp Simon Rowe Past Most Excellent Grand Superintendent), the Companions of Dundas Chapter conducted an Exaltation Ceremony for the then Brother, and now also Companion, James Baldry of the Earl of Mount Edgcumbe Lodge No 3924 (and also of the infamous Baldry Clan!).
The ceremony was conducted in fine form by several members of the Chapter but the highlights of the ceremony were most certainly the Signs and Secrets and the Mystical Lecture delivered by EComp Simon Rowe and EComp Colin Gale respectively, in their usual relaxed, enigmatic style which left the candidate in awe of this Supreme Degree.
And what better way to conclude “upstairs” than with ballots for Z, H, J and Treasurer in preparation for our Installation Meeting on 7 May 2026 followed by a proposition for another Exaltee to add to the former proposition at our last meeting, ensuring a strong pipeline of candidates for those officers due to take office. Membership is certainly on the up at Dundas!
We then retired to the refectory for a convivial Festive Board with our guests, at which, EComp Colin Gale delivered a truly awe inspiring reflection of Dundas Chapter’s 150 years, which included the Exaltation of a certain Master Mason of St George’s Lodge No. 112 by the name of John Rouse Chard VC, the senior officer at the battle of Rorke’s Drift.
All in all, a wonderful evening of reflection was combined with an optimistic look to the future for Dundas Chapter and we thank, wholeheartedly, those who came before us, those that are here now and most importantly, those who will come to us in the future to complete their journey of True and Antient Freemasonry.”
