Thanks to the generosity of the Budleigh Salterton Mason they were able to support the Budleigh Community Larder which is housed in Wesley’s, the coffee shop attached to the Temple Methodist Church Hall, Budleigh Salterton.
Carole Brown the CEO of Launchpad (SW)CIC, receives a donation of £250 from Chris Bird of the Chapter of Harmony which meets in Budleigh Salterton Masonic Hall.
Community Larders are welcoming, community-led spaces open to everyone, designed to share surplus food, build trust, and reduce food waste, but they are not food banks or a direct solution to food poverty. The ethos emphasizes inclusivity, encouraging volunteers to help all community members access food and enjoy social opportunities.
While the Community Larder is for redistributing surplus food to anyone, the pop-up pantry specifically supports local households at greater risk of food poverty. Wesley’s also hold a stock of emergency food bank parcels, which contain food for three days for those in difficult circumstances.
