On the behalf of all Devonshire Royal Arch Masons, our Most Excellent Grand Superintendent has donated £1,000 to the Exeter Cathedral Fund from the MEGS Fund.
This was done as a part of the “Adopt A Stone Scheme” which is a part of the new Cloister Gallery Project connecting the Cathedral with other buildings in the Cloister Garden. For more information, see Adopt a Stone | Exeter Cathedral
This donation adopts a large floor flagstone in the new Cloister area which is inscribed “DEVON ROYAL ARCH MASONS” for all to see This a permanent memorial for all visitors to see and one that will further demonstrate to the public how we fit in to society and the respect our Order shows to our belief in a Supreme Being.
The Cloister Gallery Project replaces the original medieval cloister which was demolished during the Civil War. Constructed on the original foundations, it follows the same architectural rhythm as its predecessor.
Complimenting the newly restored medieval Chapter House, the Cloister Gallery is one of only two major building projects at the Cathedral in the last 500 years. A a truly historic development, designed to last for centuries to come and with the Royal Arch as a part of its infrastructure.
