Teen Space

Today (9th Oct) E.Comps Arthur Blamey and Chris Hodgson dropped in on the Well Being Cafe in Okehampton to talk to the Manager, Gemma, about the great work they do.

Gemma talked about various support mechanisms available to all members of the community across Okehampton and the wider area.

In particular discussion centred on the Cafes “Teen Space” project. This is a weekly group which provides a safe and secure space for young people to meet after college and providing social interaction, advice, plus [free] food and drink.

Thanks to the support of Devon Royal Arch Freemasons and the MEGS Fund, Arthur and Chris were able to present Gemma with £500 towards “Teen-Space” which will help to support the project over the coming winter months.

Gemma thanked the Companions for their support saying ” the winter months are when we see the greatest need. Teens need a safe space to meet and being able to give them a hot drink and basic hot meal often makes all the difference”
